About the artist:
Alan graduated as an electrical engineer and spent most of his working life in Electricity Supply with responsibilities for operating and maintaining the supergrid system across the West Midlands.
After an enjoyable but challenging career “keeping the lights on” he took early retirement and established a small consultancy business with “blue chip” clients both within the UK and the Middle East.
The additional free time created following full retirement provided the opportunity to add art to his many interests – something he had long wanted to do, but never had sufficient time available.
He has become passionate about his artistic endeavours and committed himself to developing his artistic skills to realise his full potential. Alan spends significant time at exhibitions, demonstrations and workshops, together with attending both professionally tutored and untutored groups. He has also gained considerable experience in constructing, hanging and general management of exhibitions and thoroughly enjoys the challenges that this presents.
Whilst his first love is undoubtedly watercolour, he also enjoys working in acrylic, pastel and charcoal, frequently choosing to prepare, mount and frame his own work for greater satisfaction.
Alan always endeavours to achieve specific self imposed goals and considers that some of his best work has been produced when there were several obvious difficulties to overcome.
“Alan is a member of both the Wolverhampton Society of Artists and the RBSA Friends
