About the artist:
Catherine held her first Art Exhibition in Watercolours on the railings of the Royal Mile in Edinburgh during 1967.
Watercolour and Ink paintings of Edinburgh on the back of wallpaper proved very saleable. However the next four years completing a degree in Manchester University in the History of Art made her realise there was more to art than she had realised and she left the subject for some ten years. However whilst living in Peru she took lessons in painting in oils with the Peruvian abstract artist Gloria Gomez Sanches, where she learnt much over six years and finally returned to painting in Watercolour using better quality materials.
She has been painting for forty years in the medium and has paintings on every continent except Antartica. She has lived in Northamptonshire for twenty five years where she is a member of the Kettering & District Art Society and a Past President of the Northampton Town & Country Art Society. She is mostly interested in figurative art and paints many commissioned ‘genre’ paintings of children.
