About the artist:

Serap was born in Görele (Giresun) in 1963. She is a graduate of the Chemical Engineering Department of Ege University and is currently working as a lecturer (Asst. Prof. Dr.) in the department.

She started to paint in 1989 when she was studying for her PhD in England. She took her first painting courses from Rebecca Yue, a Chinese Water Colour Brush Painter. For three years she painted flowers, birds and landscapes in Rebecca’s workshop developing her skills for her desire to paint horses and wild life. After finishing her PhD, went to Japan and worked there as a postdoc student for a year (1994) and continued to paint with a group of Japanese professional and hobby painters. The main interests of her paintings are the details of the life, the horses and the wild life.

She has participated in several group and single painting exhibitions in Japan, İzmir, Gökova and İstanbul. Several examples of her paintings and a paper about her painting life were published in a journal, “Ecology magazine”, October-December 2008, Volume 20, pages 14-29.

She returned to Bath England, to attend the workshop of Rebecca YUE in July 2009 and painted only horses in a Chinese Watercolour Painting style. She is the member of “Turkuaz” group in Izmir and she is also an International member of the Birmingham Watercolour Society.
